Russian "Gopher" to be protected from drones: Strela-10 air defense system will receive a radio-electronic suppression device

The patent for the device was received by the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of Russia

The Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of Russia has patented a radio-electronic suppression (RES) device for drones for the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system (according to the NATO classification SA-13 Gopher). The development will increase the effectiveness of the complex in combating aerial targets.

The patent materials state that the UAV counteraction system will include an active fire component and a passive radio-electronic component. It is about a REP device in a case made in the form factor of a transport and launch container of the SAM system.

It can be installed on the launcher of a combat vehicle. Engineers also introduced into the device the function of determining the type of drone, interference parameters. According to the inventors, the introduction of the REP system into the air defense system will not require significant costs.
