The first diesel-electric submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" (project 636.6 "Varshavyanka") of the Russian Pacific Fleet (the main base is located in Vladivostok) arrived at its permanent base after a sea voyage. This was reported by the press service of the fleet.
The submariners were met by the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Viktor Liina. He congratulated the submarine crew on the successful completion of their tasks.
Sea voyage of the "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" submarine
In mid-January 2024, it was reported that the submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" was practicing elements of the L-3 course task in the Sea of Japan. This included diving to a depth of up to 200 m. It is known that the crew checked the operation of all systems and equipment, practiced actions to control the submarine at great depths and with various methods of surfacing.
The "Varshavyanka" project submarines are the quietest domestic submarines. For this, they were nicknamed the "black hole" in the West. Its tasks include countering enemy submarines and surface ships, protecting bases and maritime infrastructure.
The submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" joined the Pacific Fleet in the fall of 2019. It is armed with "Caliber" cruise missiles.
