Construction of a unique module for the "reactor of the future" to be completed in 2024

The project is being implemented in the city of Seversk, Tomsk Region

The Rosatom State Corporation plans to complete the construction and prepare for commissioning a unique module for the creation of nuclear fuel (fabrication and refabrication module) in the city of Seversk (closed administrative-territorial entity, Tomsk Region) in 2024. The work is being carried out as part of the "Proryv" project.

The construction of an experimental demonstration power complex (ODEC) is underway at the site of the Siberian Chemical Combine. The module will operate on the basis of the future BREST-OD-300 reactor (a fast neutron installation with a lead-bismuth coolant).

Plans for 2024: completion of construction and preparation for commissioning of the nuclear fuel fabrication/refabrication module at the ODEC site.
Report of JSC Atomenergoprom

In 2023, specialists completed the concreting of the reactor shaft structures and the installation of the BREST support plate weighing 160 tons.

In the Tomsk Region, for the first time in world practice, a "fast" reactor and a closed nuclear fuel cycle technology will be introduced at one nuclear power plant site. Irradiated fuel, after processing, will be sent for refabrication. It is expected that the system will become independent of external supplies of resources for the nuclear reactor.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom is assembling the RITM-200N reactor.
