Silver Basis Investment Development Company Limited from Hong Kong has threatened to file a claim with the Moscow Arbitration Court demanding that JSC "Moscow Automobile Plant "Moskvich"" be declared bankrupt.
Its management claims that Renault Russia, the successor of which is Moskvich, owed $2.5 million in 2021 for the manufacture of molds for plastic body parts of the Renault Logan. The Hong Kong firm is also demanding $124,000 in penalties. Moskvich commented on this information.
The message about the intention to file a claim with the court to declare JSC MAZ "Moskvich" bankrupt is informing about the possible filing of a claim and does not reflect the real financial condition of the plant. There are no circumstances of bankruptcy of JSC MAZ "Moskvich"
It is worth recalling that the plant's debt to the Hong Kong company was confirmed by a decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court dated November 24, 2023. In January of this year, the car plant filed an appeal, but the arbitration appellate court dismissed it without consideration.
It is known that in the first quarter of 2024, more than 4.7 thousand Moskvich cars were sold in Russia, and in March the Moscow plant set a new record - three thousand cars sold.
