The naval anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) Pantsir-M hit a British Storm Shadow cruise missile in combat conditions. This was announced by Oleg Ryazantsev, General Director of the High-Precision Complexes holding.
We are talking about the first successful use of the serial Pantsir-M system against Storm Shadow (developed by Matra and British Aerospace)
According to him, the enemy uses a cruise missile as a means of destruction. But the Pantsir-M destroys Storm Shadow and other air attack weapons.
Technical characteristics of the Pantsir-M SAM system:
- Fire at 4 targets at once, the speed of which reaches up to 1 km/s
- Shoots down targets flying at an altitude of 2 m to 15 km
- Firing range - up to 20 km
- Automated target search and fire control
- Use of radar and optical control system
- Equipped with anti-aircraft missile and artillery weapons
Pantsir-M was developed by specialists from the Instrument Design Bureau named after Shipunov, it is a shipborne version of the Pantsir-S SAM system. The complex can be installed on most ships of the Russian Navy. Its tests were carried out in the Black Sea on the basis of a small missile ship.
Earlier it became known that the modernized Pantsir-S1 SAM system intercepts missiles fired from the American HIMARS complex.
