Serial production of domestically developed D-18T engines for the heavy transport aircraft An-124 "Ruslan" (Antonov Design Bureau) is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Currently, the serial production of Russian D-18T engines is being mastered
The Minister also drew attention to the importance of maintaining the An-124 fleet. It was previously reported that the "Ruslans" will be equipped with PD-3 turbofan engines with a take-off thrust of up to 40 tons.
According to plans, by 2025 the number of military transport aircraft An-124 "Ruslan" and civilian An-124-100 should double. In early January 2024, it became known that they want to install a full-size fifth-generation PD-35 turbofan engine on the An-124.
