Developers from the Russian company "ELIARS" have come up with how to make anti-drone guns safer for military personnel.
Now, according to a technical specialist of the company to IA "TASS", soldiers who work with this type of equipment are often exposed to powerful radiation every day. This happens if anti-drone guns have an antenna with linear polarization.
Such antennas need a strong signal to interrupt the control and information transmission wave. But it not only leads to the failure of the gun's electronics and its overheating, but can also put the health of the military personnel who use such a gun at risk.
"ELIARS" has developed a different antenna shape that, with less power and radiation, produces the same result in terms of hitting enemy drones.
Circularly polarized antennas, unlike linearly polarized antennas, allow you to achieve the same efficiency with less power. For reliable suppression, they need only 10-20 Watts. <...> The Chinese use about 140 Watts in their guns. But these are just huge numbers - from 600 Watts are already used in microwave ovens. And people at the front shoot from these guns every day and hold them near their heads, which creates health risks.
Spiral antennas have already been used in the "Pars" anti-drone gun, and, according to the company, it effectively hits even drones that can withstand more powerful electronic warfare equipment.
In general, over the past few years in Russia, for the needs of the military and the protection of civilian and industrial facilities from unmanned intrusion for various purposes, more than five anti-drone guns have been developed with different types of antennas.
