Employees of the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant "Kupol", which is considered the flagship of the Almaz-Antey concern, have begun a deep modernization of the Tor family of anti-aircraft missile systems. According to the head of the enterprise, Fanil Ziyatdinov, engineers will significantly increase its combat capabilities.
He emphasized that a lot has changed over the past 10 years: if earlier the plant produced a mono-product, now the "Tor-M2" is available in four versions.
The promising short-range air defense system will significantly increase combat and operational capabilities and will differ from today's models
"Kupol" will continue to expand the range of products, since the strengthening of Russia's defense capability depends on this. Taking into account the stable state defense order, there are funds for expanding production and investing in its development, Ziyatdinov summarized.
The purpose of the Tor family of air defense systems is to cover land formations from missile strikes, aerial bombs, drones, and aircraft. The complexes have already proven their effectiveness in the fight against drones. They are capable of shooting down aerial targets even at low altitudes. The air defense system destroys such drones, such as "Leleka", "Baba Yaga", "Furia".
