The Izhevsk "Kupol" plant is completing the development of the armored combat vehicle "Typhoon-Air Defense", which in 2019, still at the stage of a preliminary prototype, took part in the international competitions in China "Clear Sky". The heavy equipment took second place, said the director of the enterprise, Fanil Ziyatdinov.
At the moment, the development of "Typhoon-Air Defense" is almost completed, preparations are underway for mass production
The purpose of the "Typhoon-Air Defense" armored vehicle is to increase the mobility and protection of anti-aircraft gunners armed with MANPADS.
Characteristics and equipment of "Typhoon-Air Defense":
- KamAZ chassis with a wheel formula of 4x4
- Russian engine
- Special armored capsule inside the combat vehicle
- "Kord" machine gun, caliber 12.7 mm
- 9 anti-aircraft guided missiles in launch tubes
- 3 launching mechanisms
- 9 ground power sources
- 3 sets of radar identification systems
Earlier, a version of the "Typhoon" armored vehicle for the Airborne Forces was presented. The combat vehicle is equipped with a 2S41 "Drok" mortar.
