In the spring of 2024, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation will submit to the lower house of parliament a bill obliging the American corporation Applе to open its devices for the installation of applications from third-party stores. This was announced by the head of the department, Maksut Shadaev.
This refers to an initiative announced at the end of 2022. Then the minister compared it with the law on digital markets adopted in the EU. The bill was developed against the background of the removal of "Gosuslugi" and applications of Russian banks, which fell under Western sanctions.
The Digital Markets Act will enter into force in the EU in March 2024. All applications for Apple devices must be verified and cryptographically signed. Development companies are required to pay royalties to the corporation. At the same time, Apple reserves the right to block the application.
Earlier, Yandex developers discovered a vulnerability in iOS 17. This concerns the caller ID function, which can be used by fraudsters to deceive users.
