Omsktransmash, a subsidiary of Uralvagonzavod, has modernized the design of the Russian "flying" T-80BVM tank.
T-80BVMs with an additional turret protection module, which was first demonstrated at the Army-2023 forum, have been delivered to the Ministry of Defense. In addition, the "eighty" has been reinforced with dynamic protection for the safety of the crew.
T-80BVM is the most modern version of the legendary "flying" T-80 tank, which is planned to be revived at Uralvagonzavod. Deliveries of T-80BVM to the Russian troops have been ongoing since 2017, but despite its excellent characteristics in the form of a powerful gas turbine engine, climatic endurance, speed, reliability, and maneuverability, the tank is constantly being improved.
Among the latest updates during the modernization, the Sosna-U fire control system, which uses a laser beam to guide supersonic missiles from the tank's gun to the target, and protection systems against high-precision weapon guidance and FPV drones, are particularly noteworthy.
