Engineers and designers at MAN & TECHNOLOGIES LAB (MNTlab) have developed the Falcon VR virtual reality headset, which has human eye resolution (varifocal). The project was implemented as part of a grant of 20 million rubles from the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations.
The company's press service explained that the gaming industry requires high-quality images and a high-speed eye tracker (tracks eye movement) from VR headset manufacturers. Only varifocal headsets can meet these requirements.
Falcon provides high resolution in the observer's area of attention, the viewing angle is 110° with the ability to rebuild the additional image in accordance with the focus and parallax of the eyes
All boards, optical circuits and controls were designed at MNTlab. The company presented an industrial design in two colors: black and white.
It is noted that in addition to games, it can be used for participating in online conferences, joint development or presentation of VR projects. The use of such helmets has interested business and the public sector. The first 20 gadgets have already been purchased by government agencies.
In the US, sales of the Аpple Vision Pro mixed reality headset began in early February. In Russia, such devices will appear only in the spring and will cost about half a million rubles. Experts believe that few Russians will be able to afford such an expensive toy.
Earlier, Rosatom for the first time used VR technologies to approve the technical documentation of the project.
