Russian servicemen are using new 2B23 "Nona-M1" 120 mm mortars in combat. The weapon is designed to engage manpower, concealed positions and enemy equipment, said the mortar commander with the call sign Skipper.
The weapon was developed by specialists of the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering. "Nona-M1" differs from "Podnos" 2B14-1 and 2S12 "Sani" by a rifled barrel, which allows the use of ammunition from 2S9 "Nona-S". Soldiers note that the process of loading the new weapon has become more convenient.
