The lower house of the Russian parliament will stop compensating deputies' expenses for gasoline from January 1, 2024, if they do not switch to domestic cars, said Yana Lantratova, First Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on Education.
From January 1, the State Duma will not accept documents required to reimburse expenses for motor transport services for cars of other brands
According to the parliamentarian, she drives a Toyota Camry in the Chelyabinsk region, but it will soon be replaced by another car. Local authorities have not yet specified which one, Lantratova added.
Next year, at the request of the leadership of the regions of the Russian Federation, deputies must switch to models from Russian manufacturers: AvtoVAZ, UAZ, Aurus, Evolute, Moskvich or the Chinese concern Haval.
Earlier, the speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament, Valentina Matvienko, welcomed the transition of officials to domestic cars. She admitted that she herself refused a German Mercedes in favor of the Russian Aurus.
