Rosatom Announces Printing of Composite Parts on Domestic 3D Printers

Specialists from JSC "NIIgrafit" (part of Rosatom) have started printing ceramic and polymer products on Russian 3D printers, the state corporation's press service reported.

It is specified that scientists from the research institute have mastered the technology of printing complex profile products from composite materials. They perform the printing itself on 3D printers of their own design.

The Rosatom press service emphasized that the printers have no analogues in Russia. The equipment creates geometrically complex products from composites, which will replace metal parts. It is expected that polymer products will be used at nuclear power facilities.

Earlier, Gazprom Neft printed a 3D-printed house for employees in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Printing the building turned out to be a third cheaper than its construction in the traditional way.

In addition, the "Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant" is developing a 3D printer for foundry production. The equipment is planned to be used in the domestic market and supplied to other countries.
