The first 10 naval drones will be delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defense by the end of 2023 for their subsequent testing in combat, said Mikhail Danilenko, Managing Director of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ, specializing in the production of boats for Russian law enforcement and rescue agencies).
These drones will accelerate to 80 km/h and carry up to 600 kg of explosives. The range is more than 200 km
We are talking about unmanned boats based on the "Vizir" type platform. If the test is successful, their mass production will begin in 2024, Danilenko added.
In the last year, the scale of production at KMZ has grown, everything is quickly being rebuilt to meet the increased demand. Thus, 1 billion rubles were invested in expanding the machine park, part of this amount is the plant's profit, the rest is credit and leasing funds.
According to Danilenko, the number of orders at KMZ has tripled. At the same time, the repair time of equipment has been reduced - if previously 90 days were allocated for these purposes, now only 30 days. The plant management expects that in 2024 there will be even more orders for new equipment and its maintenance, he summarized.
Earlier, the "Russian Arctic" center presented a polyethylene naval drone for exploring the North.
