Small "Rosatom" nuclear power plants may be built in Norilsk

"Rosatom" and "Nornickel" signed an agreement on cooperation in the construction of such facilities

"Rosatom" and "Nornickel" have signed an agreement on cooperation in the construction of small nuclear power plants in Norilsk. The difficulty is that the system will be autonomous, as the city is cut off from the country's Unified Energy System.

Most likely, a project of a water-water nuclear reactor with a planned capacity of 80 to 90 MW will be used

This is a nuclear power plant project based on the latest "RITM-400" reactor plant. It is being developed by "Rosatom's" subsidiary, the I.I. Afrikantov Machine-Building Design Bureau.

Previously, "Rosatom" had already built similar small nuclear power plants in remote regions with low temperatures: in Chukotka and Yakutia. They have proven to be reliable and environmentally friendly.
