Russian Aerospace Forces pilots are the only ones in the world who have used fifth-generation multi-purpose fighter Su-57 (developed in Sukhoi Design Bureau) in real combat conditions. Meanwhile, the American fifth-generation fighter bombers F-35 (created in Lockheed Martin) were only used for strikes on unprotected targets, write military analysts of The Military Watch.
The experts also noted that the J-20 fighter deployed by China (developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group) has never been used in real combat action.
Unlike its competitors, the Russian Su-57 performs multiple functions: it destroys enemy aircraft, suppresses air defense means, conducts electronic warfare, and hits ground targets. At the same time, the Su-57 aircraft equipped with the P-37M missile can attack enemy aircraft from a distance of 200 km directly in the air, underline the authors of The Military Watch.
The use of the Su-57 on the battlefield has helped engineers refine the fighter's design. And the integration of long-range air-to-air missiles and cruise missiles has become a key factor, enabling the aircraft to perform functions that are not typical of ordinary fighters, concluded the experts.
Earlier, Rostec announced that the Su-57 has a lighter "twin" - the Su-75 Checkmate. The aircraft will have a single engine, which will make it cheaper to produce, but will not affect the technical characteristics and performance of combat tasks in any way.
