A video of tests of the new unmanned dump truck KAMAZ-6559, which is called "Jupiter 30", has appeared on the Network.

"Jupiter 30" was jointly developed with the engineers of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The rigid frame quarry dump truck without a cabin easily moves in space and "dances".

Factory testing for "Jupiter 30" started in October, then it will go to the quarries in the Kemerovo region. By the year 2025 it is planned to start serial production of these dump trucks.

 "Jupiter 30"

This cab-less dump truck is capable of transporting loads up to 30 tons in fully automatic or remote-controlled mode.

It is controlled via GPS/GLONASS, GSM antennas, 2D and 3D lidars, ultrasonic sensors, radars and video cameras. All this equipment is protected from dust, dirt, moisture and vibrations.

"Jupiter 30" is fully autonomous and maximally ecological due to the applied serial hybrid scheme. Its diesel engine with a volume of 11.9 liters and a power of 450 hp starts an electric generator.

The generator transmits energy to two traction electric motors and charges their traction batteries. When the dump truck brakes or moves downhill in the quarry, these batteries are recharged through the energy recovery system.

The exhaust gases of the engine thus heat the dump truck platform. Such a system helps to combat soil freezing in winter.

The developers also provided for fuel and resource saving of the dump truck through the full-drive and steerable chassis. "Jupiter 30" does not waste time and fuel on turning during loading and unloading, it simply turns its wheels in the desired direction. It can only move at a limited speed: maximum 56 km/h.
