NPO Splav Develops New Type of Air-Launched Missile

The newest 80 mm caliber air-launched missile has been developed at NPO Splav named after Ganichev. Specialists have combined the properties of two types of ammunition in one missile: concrete-piercing and high-explosive fragmentation, Rostec reported.

The state corporation explained that engineers solved several complex technical problems, creating ammunition that can hit targets in open areas and hidden in forests, in fortifications.

It is noted that the development of NPO Splav became the basis for creating new multifunctional air-launched missiles. We are talking about a small-sized rocket engine for a series of unguided, corrected, and guided munitions.

It is possible that soon the air-launched missiles of NPO Splav will be used by pilots of strike Mi-28 helicopters ("Night Hunter"). Currently, the aircraft is armed with air-to-surface and air-to-air guided missile systems.
