The Russian concern "Kamaz" is developing the "Atlant" quarry dump truck drone project. The new modification of KamAZ "Atlant-49 Robocop" has a reinforced cabin, the design of which resembles equipment from Hollywood action movies of the eighties.
Journalist Maxim Kadakov filmed the quarry drone during transportation. According to him, after the installation of the dump truck platform, the "Atlant-49 Robocop" was sent for refinement to the KamAZ Scientific and Technical Center, which is located in Naberezhnye Chelny. When the "Robocop" upgrade is completed, it will go to Kemerovo. There, the equipment will be tested at one of the coal mines.
Information about the "Atlant" first appeared in the media in 2020. KamAZ engineers were testing a 60-ton dump truck of the Autonomous Ready category (readiness of all vehicle systems for equipping with additional sensors for its autonomous operation - note from the editors of www1.ru). It was then claimed that KamAZ plans to develop self-driving dump trucks.
It is known that the "Atlant-49 Robocop" is equipped with an engine with a capacity of up to 500 "horses", an Allison transmission of American production. The dump truck has a system that controls overload, as well as recognizes nearby power lines. Video cameras help the new KamAZ development to move over rough terrain, bypassing obstacles.
Earlier, KamAZ showed a comfortable bus, inside which there is equipment for a workshop, several sleeping places and a kitchen. Kamaz-6250 can become an excellent motorhome for travelers.
