The Russian corporation «KamAZ» is developing the project of an autonomous dumper «Atlant». A new modification of KamAZ «Atlant-49 Robocop» has a reinforced cabin, the design of which reminds of the technology from Hollywood action movies of the eighties.
Journalist Maxim Kadakov captured the autonomous dumper during transportation. According to him, after installing the dumper platform, «Atlant-49 Robocop» was sent for refinement to KamAZ's Research and Development Center, which is located in Naberezhnye Chelny. When the Robocop's upgrade is complete, it will go to Kemerovo. There they will conduct equipment tests at one of the coal quarries.
Information about «Atlant» first appeared in the media in 2020. KamAZ engineers tested the dumper weighing 60 t in the category Autonomous Ready (readiness of all vehicle systems for equipping with additional sensors for its autonomous work - editors note www1.ru). Then it was claimed that KamAZ was planning to develop autonomous dumpers.
It is known that the «Atlant-49 Robocop» is equipped with an engine capable of up to 500 horsepower, an American-made Allison transmission. The dumper also has a system to control overload, as well as to detect nearby power lines. Cameras help KamAZ's new development navigate through rough terrain, bypassing obstacles.
Earlier, KamAZ showed a comfortable bus, inside of which there is equipment for a workshop, several sleeping places and a kitchen. KamAZ-6250 can become an excellent home on wheels for travelers.
