The Rostec State Corporation has handed over the first batch of new 152-mm Malva self-propelled artillery guns to the Ministry of Defense.
They are designed to destroy command posts, defensive structures, artillery, missile and mortar batteries, air defense systems, columns of armored vehicles and enemy manpower.
Characteristics of the Malva self-propelled gun
The self-propelled gun is all-wheel drive and runs on a diesel engine. It was created on the basis of the BAZ chassis with an 8x8 wheel arrangement. Thanks to its wheeled chassis, it can quickly deploy to a position and leave it, avoiding return fire. It can also:
- drive off-road and on public roads without refueling for a distance of up to 1100 km;
- be transported by Il-76 aircraft over long distances;
- fire at a speed of more than seven rounds per minute in several directions;
- destroy targets with high-explosive fragmentation shells at a range of more than 24 km.
In addition, the manufacturing company indicates that this model of armament is relatively inexpensive to produce.
