The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the arrival of new Russian TOS-2 "Tosochka" combat vehicles into the arsenal of the Armed Forces. They are created by NPO "Splav" named after A.N. Ganichev and "Motovilikhinskiye Zavody." Both are managed by the State Corporation "Rostec."
Specialists of the CBRN protection of the Central Military District highly appreciate the tactical and technical characteristics of the TOS-2 "Tosochka" flamethrower system due to increased mobility, enhanced firepower, increased range and high accuracy of the ammunition used.
The TOS-2 "Tosochka" has electronic protection against high-precision weapons. It is very maneuverable: it weighs 20 tons, that is, half the weight of its predecessor — TOS-1A "Solntsepek". The reinforced wheel base of the combat vehicle on a three-axle Ural-63706 chassis with all-wheel drive and an armored cabin allows you to quickly change position.
It has its own lifting mechanism and crane-manipulator, that is, it does not need a separate recharging, and shells can be delivered on anything. The combat crew will load them themselves.
It is known that the "Tosochka" is equipped with modern navigation equipment: a laser rangefinder, satellite navigation, a Doppler speed meter, and an inertial measurement unit.
It can fire from unprepared firing positions. Guidance and fire control systems operate with a high degree of automation. A volley is fired using 18 thermobaric rockets, they cover an area of 6 hectares.
The exact firing range is not specified, but, based on the characteristics of the Russian combat vehicles preceding the "Tosochka", it may be at least 10-15 km.
