Rostec has begun supplying the Russian troops with a batch of new 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns "Phlox". "Phlox" is considered one of the most modern artillery systems presented in the domestic military-industrial complex.
This gun is both a cannon and a mortar at the same time, because it can fire both shells and mines without reducing the rate of fire. "Phlox" has improved mobility, security, it rationally balances manual and automated operations, and the work of the crew is maximally facilitated. In combination with a relatively low price, all this makes the gun affordable and in demand in the troops.
"Phlox" is intended to destroy enemy manpower, weapons and equipment in the battalion's area of responsibility: from one hundred meters to 10 kilometers. It is installed on the chassis of a special model of the armored vehicle "Ural" with increased cross-country ability with a reinforced engine. Setting up from the stowed position to the combat position takes less than a minute.
"Phlox" is equipped with a 2A80 gun – a combination of a gun-howitzer and a mortar, with an innovative cooling system. Fire is fired with 120-millimeter mines and shells with ready-made rifling. The ammunition load is more than 80 rounds, of which 28 rounds are ready to fire in operational packs.
Also, a remotely controlled autonomous artillery module with a 12.7 mm "Kord" machine gun is installed on the roof of the armored driver's cab. It is designed to repel attacks by sabotage groups.
"Phlox" can fire in the mode of simultaneous fire raid and quickly change its firing position after several shots.
