Data storage systems, servers and computers based on Chinese Loongson processors will appear in Russia. The first company to decide to integrate Chinese solutions into its products was the Russian company "Norsi-Trans".
According to Kommersant, citing Sergey Ovchinnikov, CEO of Norsi-Trans, Norsi-Trans' partner in this endeavor will be Basalt SPO. The developer of the Alt OS, which is included in the register of domestic software, will adapt it to Loongson. Other companies may follow their example.
Loongson, operating on the architecture of the Chinese development LoongArch, is used in its homeland in the military-industrial complex, in satellites and in a number of commercial product solutions.
At the end of 2022, the Chinese authorities banned the export of these processors to all foreign countries, including Russia, in order to avoid theft of technology. Now, Loongson products could return to Russia, according to market participants, due to sanctions from the United States.
There are no fears of competition in the Russian market yet. However, domestic processor developers note that Russia should seek "mirror access" to the market and technologies from China.
