The Russian BMD-4M airborne assault vehicle has received additional armor kits. They are mounted in the frontal part, sides, stern, and on the bottom of the vehicle. Now the combat BMD-4Ms can safely overcome both land and water obstacles.
Currently, the BMD-4M surpasses most models of light armored vehicles of NATO countries in terms of firepower, even in the basic configuration. The ammunition includes a conventional 100-mm 2A70 gun, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 7 km. It also contains an automatic 30-mm 2A72 cannon and a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun with modern sights and thermal imagers.
However, a number of new weapons models are currently under development, which can strengthen the BMD-4M. One of them is thenew Pticelov anti-aircraft missile system, which has already passed testing.
