The State Duma apparatus (which deals with, among other things, the material and technical support of the lower house of parliament - note www1.ru) has purchased 1,800 licenses of Russian analogues of the Windows operating system (OS) and the Microsoft Office suite for deputies and administrative staff, Step Logic said.
According to a Vedomosti source, it is about Astra Linux OS and My Office suite. According to data on the public procurement website, the purchase amount was almost 52.5 million rubles. A Step Logic representative said that in September the IT solutions were delivered to the customer "in full".
The head of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, confirmed to RIA Novosti the transition of deputies from foreign to Russian software. He stressed that the import substitution program was initiated by the speaker of the State Duma.
The parliamentarian believes that domestic developers offer "mature IT solutions" that meet standards, including in terms of security. Khinshtein added that he does not see any difficulties in switching from Microsoft software to domestic software.
Earlier www1.ru wrote that Microsoft will not renew licenses to Russian companies after September 30. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation was investigating the situation.
