Russia launches production of drug for photodynamic cancer therapy

A Moscow-based company has started producing a drug for photodynamic therapy of oncological diseases. In the early stages of cancer, this method can replace surgery, said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

Development of a drug for cancer treatment

According to him, the Russian development has no foreign analogues. It is known that the drug, when administered to a patient, accumulates in tumor cells, after which it is activated by laser or LED radiation. As a result, the neoplasm is almost completely destroyed.

Sobyanin specified that the company's management plans to produce up to 40,000 vials of the drug per year. It is expected that this volume will cover the needs of photodynamic therapy in Russia.

Earlier www1.ru reported on the work of several Russian companies on an analogue of the foreign drug against hepatitis C "Zepatir".
