The enterprise «Information Satellite Systems named after M. F. Reshetnev» has concluded a state contract with Roscosmos for the manufacture of satellites for the low-orbit multi-satellite data transmission system «Marathon IoT».
First, «Reshetnev» will manufacture five experimental «Marathon» devices, and then 132 regular satellites will be created in stages, which will make up half of the «Marathon IoT» orbital group. Also, by the end of the year, «Reshetnev» will produce and prepare for launch an experimental spacecraft «Marathon». The satellite will be equipped with a payload to provide short IoT message transmission.
Roscosmos plans to launch satellites of the «Marathon IoT» group in series: 44 devices per rocket. «Marathon IoT» will consist of 264 spacecraft, which will allow providing data transmission services throughout the Earth. Spacecraft will operate in a low circular orbit at an altitude of 750 km.
