Первая станция метро в московском аэропорту откроется 6 сентября. Это будет станция метро «Аэропорт Внуково»

It will complement the Aeroexpress, but there will be no competition between these passenger transportation systems

According to RBC, citing informed sources, the capital's authorities will open the Vnukovo Airport metro station on the Solntsevskaya (yellow) line tomorrow, September 6. It will be the first metro station located at an airport.

Last month, Igor Voistratenko, Chairman of Mosgosstroynadzor, said that the construction of the station in Vnukovo had reached its final stage.

After the opening, the final station of the Solntsevskaya metro line will become a convenient gateway to the capital of Russia for passengers arriving on domestic and international flights to Vnukovo Airport, and will also significantly improve transport accessibility for 350,000 residents of residential areas of the Vnukovskoye settlement, connecting them with the city center.

The total area of the station complex will be 12.6 thousand square meters. The walls of the station will be decorated with a composition with portraits of Russian aircraft designers Andrei and Alexei Tupolev. Visitors and employees of Vnukovo will be able to get from the metro to the terminal building via an underground pedestrian crossing.

After the opening, the metro will become an alternative to Aeroexpress, but Vitaly Vantsev, co-owner and chairman of the board of directors of Vnukovo, believes that there will be no competition between these passenger delivery routes.

As far as I know from the inside of Aeroexpress, they hold roughly the same opinion. On the Aeroexpress, the cost of a trip is 500 rubles, and there are people sitting there with computers who need a good connection. The metro does not have this. Therefore, no one will replace the express. But this will affect buses, probably some routes will be closed.
