According to the "Autostat" agency, as of July 1 of this year, the fleet of Chinese brand passenger cars in Russia numbered 1.08 million units. They already account for 2.4% of the country's total passenger car fleet.
The leader among the "Chinese" is Chery: by mid-2023, 304.3 thousand Chery cars were registered in Russia, which is 28% of all "Chinese". In second place is Geely (210.2 thousand units), in third place is Lifan (152.4 thousand units). Haval (141.9 thousand units) and Great Wall (121.4 thousand units) are also in the top 5. In total, the top 5 brands account for 85% of registered Chinese cars.
As for the statistics on models, the most common is Chery Tiggo. Lifan X60, Great Wall Hover H3, and Lifan Solano are also popular among Russians. However, these models are no longer sold in the Russian Federation. But they are followed by newcomers – Geely Coolray, Haval Jolion, and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
Given the popularity of Chery cars, it is not surprising that the company is considering the possibility of producing its cars in Russia.
