New "Volga": Former AvtoVAZ Designer Presents Sedan and Station Wagon Design

The sketch retains some characteristic features of the classic "Volga"

Former AvtoVAZ designer Vasily Markin has proposed his vision for a new "Volga" car model. The Gorky Automobile Plant plans to resume production of cars under this name 20 years later. The design project was published by the Telegram channel "Avtopotok."

In his project, the artist presented concepts for a sedan and a station wagon.

The length of the "Volga" in the sedan body is 4900 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm

The exterior design of the car includes a layout scheme with an internal combustion engine. At the same time, it retains some characteristic features of the classic "Volga" models, such as a three-volume silhouette and a wide rear pillar of the body without a window.

This, according to Markin, could be the "Volga" in the station wagon body.

In June of this year, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, announced the possibility of presenting the first production model of the "Volga" car under the same brand at the Gorky Automobile Plant. It was said that a Chinese car manufacturer would act as a technological partner in this project. The return of the legend in a new interpretation was promised to be expected soon. "Volga" should be launched into mass production as early as 2024.

Earlier, Russian President supported the intention to transfer officials to domestically produced cars, and Russians agreed with the initiative.
