Roman Latypov, Deputy Head of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of Moscow, announced that the Moscow Metro will join the pilot project to test the digital ruble.
Currently, the digital ruble project, which we are launching jointly with the Bank of Russia, will initially be launched as a pilot project on a closed focus group. Members of this closed focus group will be able to purchase either a "Troika" card in unique designs or a "Troika" card with a balance.
It is not reported when it will be possible to pay with digital rubles in the Moscow Metro, but preparatory processes for this are already beginning. Banks will begin "testing" the digital ruble on August 15, with 13 credit institutions participating in the pilot project.
