The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIItochmash), part of the Kalashnikov Group, has manufactured a batch of gun computational systems (GCS) for installation on 120mm self-propelled artillery guns 'Nona-SM' (2S9-1M).

The GCS automates management processes and reduces the time to solve fire tasks. The complex was developed by TsNIItochmash in the early 2000s in the process of modernizing the SAO 'Nona'.

Series production of 'Nona-SM' began in 2006. Unlike its predecessors, this self-propelled artillery gun is equipped with a satellite navigation system and an inertial reference system. Thanks to the installed computer, the SAO 2S9-1M is capable of firing in semi-automatic mode as part of a division.
