Rostec announced today the successful completion of an experiment in growing plants – flowers and vegetables – in environmentally friendly technosoil of its own production, obtained from organic waste. The experiment was conducted at RT-Invest waste processing complexes.
RT-Invest uses two technologies for processing organic waste:
- Windrow composting in hangars with turning. Organic waste is placed in special windrows for 14 days;
- Composting in climate chambers. Pre-sifted organic matter enters concrete structures 45 m long, resembling bathtubs, and is covered with a membrane. During the composting process, special sensors are used to automatically control the temperature and oxygen content.
The finished technical soil can be used for landscaping and, for example, when backfilling roads. In total, the company has already produced 550 thousand tons of technosoil.
