Russian heavy flamethrowers "Solntsepek" were equipped with a new navigation system

The fighting calculation of the "Solntsepek" will be able to carry out orientation and aiming without leaving the combat vehicle

The Rostec-owned holding "High Precision Systems" announced that a new navigation system developed by the VNII "Signal" has been successfully tested on the heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek".

The VNII "Signal" has successfully tested a modern navigation system for the BM TOS-1A "Solntsepek". In addition, this system increases the accuracy of the BM TOS-1A's fire, automates the calculation of geodetic and specialized tasks. In the future, all combat vehicles are planned to be equipped with these navigation systems.

"Solntsepek" uses unguided rocket shells caliber 220 mm. The package includes 24 thermobaric shells, they are capable of covering an area up to 40,000 sq.m. The firing range is up to 6 km.

The JSC VNII "Signal" has developed and proposed equipping the BM TOS-1A "Solntsepek" with a modern navigation system, which allows to perform combat tasks from closed fire positions without the use of external orientation devices. This technical solution ensures the preservation of life of the crew, as it allows to carry out orientation and aiming without leaving the combat vehicle.
