The "High-Precision Systems" holding, which is part of "Rostec", reported that a new navigation system developed by VNII "Signal" was successfully tested on the TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" heavy flamethrower systems.
VNII "Signal" conducted a successful testing of a modern navigation system for the BM TOS-1A "Solntsepyok". In addition, this system improves the accuracy of firing from the BM TOS-1A, automates the processes of calculating geodetic and special tasks. In the future, it is planned to equip all combat vehicles with these navigation systems.
"Solntsepyok" uses unguided rockets with a caliber of 220 mm. The package contains 24 thermobaric projectiles, they are capable of covering an area of up to 40,000 sq.m. The firing range is up to 6 km.
JSC VNII "Signal" has developed and proposed equipping the BM TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" with a modern navigation system, which allows performing combat tasks from closed firing positions without the use of external orientation devices. This technical solution ensures the preservation of the crew's life, as it allows orientation and aiming without leaving the combat vehicle.
