Импортозамещенный российский самолет SSJ New переименовали в SJ-100, а его создатель корпорация «Иркут» теперь называется «Яковлев»

Major Rebranding in the Russian Aviation Industry

A major event took place yesterday in Zhukovsky, during which the rebranding of the "Irkut" corporation, which is part of the UAC, was announced — from now on it is called "Yakovlev".

The "Irkut" Corporation announced its renaming, presenting a new brand – "Yakovlev". The decision was made taking into account the growth of the company's geography and competencies in the field of civil aviation in recent years. All corporate renaming procedures will be completed in August of this year.

The Yakovlev Design Bureau has been part of "Irkut" since 2004, and now it has been decided that the entire company will bear the name of A.S. Yakovlev.

The Russian aircraft industry is at a turning point. Against the background of the departure of "Boeing" and "Airbus" we are overcoming dependence on imports and are aimed at fully equipping our airlines with domestic aircraft comparable in quality, reliability, and other characteristics to aircraft of world brands. By 2030, UAC enterprises must supply Russian airlines with about 500 civil aircraft.

The event also showcased aircraft with new branding. The liner, previously known as SSJ New (Sukhoi Superjet 100 with Russian PD-8 engines), will now be called SJ-100.
