The import-substituted Russian plane SSJ New was renamed SJ-100, and its creator firm "Irkut" is now called "Yakovlev"

Major rebranding in the Russian aviation industry

Yesterday in Zhukovsky, a large event took place, during which the renaming of the company entering UAC, "Irkut", was announced - it is now called "Yakovlev".

Corporation "Irkut" announced its renaming by introducing the new brand - "Yakovlev". The decision was made taking into account the expansion of the company's geography and competencies in civil aviation in recent years. All corporate renaming procedures will be completed in August of this year.

"Irkut"

Yakovlev Design Bureau has been part of "Irkut" since 2004, and now it was decided that the entire company will bear the name of A.S. Yakovlev.

Russian aircraft construction is at a crossroads. Against the background of Boeing and Airbus' departure, we are overcoming dependence on import and aiming at fully equipping our airlines with domestic vessels comparable in quality, reliability, and other characteristics to the aircraft of world brands. By 2030, UAC's enterprises are expected to deliver about 500 civilian aircraft to Russian airlines.

Also, at the event, they showed airplanes with the new branding. The liner, previously known as SSJ New (Sukhoi Superjet 100 with Russian PD-8 engines), will now be called SJ-100.
