Oleg Karpitsky, head of STC IT ROSA, told RBC that his company is going to release the first smartphone with the Rosa Mobile operating system in the fall. It is assumed that the interface of the devices will be similar to the interface of iOS and Android (and even support for Android applications is promised), and the price of the device will not exceed 40 thousand rubles.
We strived to integrate the best user experience of Android and iOS into our system so that a user accustomed to these operating systems would not have to retrain.
The head of STC IT ROSA said that the company's engineers have developed all the engineering solutions. For example, they completely rewrote the drivers for the device components - the Wi-Fi module, the camera, and others.
The design of Rosa Mobile was developed jointly with the Russian IT company 65apps, which cooperates with the Central Bank, Yandex and Magnit. The operating system will have its own application store, and the first batch of smartphones will be produced by the Zelenograd company Rutek.
Rosa Mobile does not use Android components, which should protect against possible disconnection and hidden functions from Google, but we have made it possible to run a number of Android applications on it
STC IT ROSA believes that the smartphone will be of interest to government customers and corporate clients. The OS is currently undergoing preparatory work for certification by the FSTEC.
