Senior Vice President for Information Technology of Rostelecom Kirill Menyshov announced that the release of the fifth version of the Russian OS Aurora, based on Sailfish OS, is coming soon.

"This year we are expecting Aurora 5 at the end of the year - the beginning of the next year. We will be announcing it at the end of the year with a whole host of options", he said. Kirill Menyshov also added that the company will not disclose details before the official announcement. He also reported that agreements with foreign companies on installing Aurora on their devices have not yet been reached.

Let's recall that Aurora is based on Sailfish OS. This OS has successfully passed the certification tests of the FSB of Russia, is registered by Rospatent and is included in the register of domestic software.
