A system of interbank messages, which acts as an analogue of the international SWIFT system, has been created at the Center for Distributed Ledger Technologies of St. Petersburg State University. It is decentralized - works on the blockchain and does not have a single operator. This is recorded as a plus.
"That is, the system simply does not have one center and a"control panel", all users have access to the necessary information and can exchange bank messages without the restrictions that exist with SWIFT", – explained the director of the center Dmitry Shishmakov.
The system was created last year and by now it has been tested by more than 10 organizations.
"[DSMS has] an important feature - the ability to create a confidential and secure interaction circuit not only between financial institutions, but also industrial enterprises and groups of companies", – said the managing director of financial policy and financial markets of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Andrey Lisitsyn.
