Today, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket launched from Vostochny, placing the Meteor-M No. 2-3 satellite into orbit. This is the main payload, and there were 42 other spacecraft as a secondary payload: 39 Russian and three foreign. In total, the Soyuz-2.1b launched 40 spacecraft into orbit, which is a record for the number of Russian satellites launched simultaneously.
According to Roscosmos, Meteor-M No. 2-3 has already reached the desired orbit and separated from the Fregat upper stage. But the stage itself continued to work, placing the remaining satellites into their target orbits.
Meteor-M No. 2-3 will study the Earth's natural resources, monitor climate and the environment. It is equipped with the COSPAS-SARSAT search and rescue system.
