Today, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket was launched from the Vostochny, it put into orbit the Meteor-M satellite № 2-3. This is the main payload, and there were also 42 satellites as an accompanying one: 39 Russian and three foreign ones. So in total, the Soyuz-2.1b put into orbit 40 satellites and this is a record for the number of simultaneously launched Russian satellites.
As reported by Roscosmos, the Meteor-M satellite № 2-3 has already reached its necessary orbit and has separated from the Fregat upper stage. But the upper stage continued to work – it put other satellites into their target orbits.
The Meteor-M № 2-3 will study Earth's natural resources, monitor the climate and environment. It is equipped with the Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue system equipment.
