At SPIEF-2023, co-founder of the Russian Quantum Center Ruslan Yunusov talked about plans to allow anyone to connect to Russia's first quantum computer. To make this possible, they created a cloud platform with 24/7 access through a browser. Through this platform, they plan to ensure access to different quantum computers.
But what problems can be solved with their help? This question was answered by experts from the Russian Quantum Center: the head of the scientific group Alexey Fedorov and the developer-researcher of the scientific group Alena Mastyukova.
"Cloud access to quantum computers will help researchers, interested users, and industries to solve a number of important and useful tasks such as logistics and financial sector optimization, developments in the field of quantum chemistry (simulation of new compounds, search for new medicines), bioinformatics, cryptanalysis, simulation of technological processes and analysis of large data in the oil and gas sector. Also, quantum algorithms can be useful for creating new machine learning models, which opens up very broad opportunities for solving many problems facing mankind. Any interested user at the beginning of his path to acquaintance with quantum computing will be able to implement the first quantum algorithm using our team's tutorials, that is, for example, to implement a search algorithm in an unordered database or a decomposition algorithm into prime factors", – said the experts.
They also noted that access would be both paid and free.
"Both free (demo) and paid access to quantum computers will be provided via the cloud. It all will depend on the specific request of the user, the power required to solve tasks, and the need for consultation on solving tasks using quantum algorithms. Currently, in the global market, the price of access varies greatly depending on the type of equipment used. For example, for business, access costs about $2-3 thousand per hour. But Amazon offers to solve a task for $0.3, or launch an algorithm with certain parameters for $0.0002-$0.01. There is also free access for everyone at IBM to not very powerful processors. We will focus on market demands and make a flexible system, try to make the cloud platform an accessible and useful tool for both a student and a large business", - said the employees of the Russian Quantum Center.
