Russia will launch the production of licensed Isuzu diesel engines. They will be installed on commercial vehicles and the UAZ "Patriot"

Engines - with a reliable design

The company "Sollers" today announced the resumption of engine production in SEZ Alabuga. The Industry Development Foundation (IDF) has allocated a preferential loan of 1.7 billion rubles for the organization of this project.

In Alabuga, at the former Ford plant, the production of JAC HFC4D turbodiesels (a licensed copy of Isuzu) with a volume of 2.0-2.7 liters, chain drive of the timing mechanism and an iron cylinder head will be arranged. They will install on UAZ "Patriot" starting from May 2024. Earlier, the Ulyanovsk plant considered the possibility of acquiring Indian diesel Mahindra mHawk EV or Chinese BAIC Yuchai YC4Y, but settled on JAC HFC4D.

This news was already commented by the Editor-in-chief of the Za Rulom magazine Maxim Kadakov. "Project involves cooperation with other car manufacturers and suppliers - for the unification of the component base and loading of capacities for casting and machining. It is planned to purchase new equipment for the engine assembly shop, bench testing area, cylinder head machining line, crankshaft production. We are talking about 'localizing basic parts and all key technological operations'. There is no exact list of these basic parts yet", - he said.
