Roscosmos and RAS Discuss the "Venera-V" Mission – It Will Require Creating Completely New Spacecraft

The Russian program for studying Venus began to be developed in 2020

Roscosmos is discussing a new space mission – to Venus. It is expected that as part of the "Venera-V" mission, samples of soil and atmosphere of the second planet from the Sun will be delivered to Earth.

"Specialists of the Roscosmos State Corporation and the Russian Academy of Sciences are working on the possibility of returning samples of soil, atmosphere and aerosols of Venus to Earth (the "Venera-V" mission)," Roscosmos said. They added that the mission involves launching completely new search-and-return and landing spacecraft.

The USSR implemented a comprehensive program for studying Venus, and a Russian program has been developed since 2020. The first mission ("Venera-D") within the framework of the new concept is planned to be carried out after 2030. Interestingly, the super-heavy rocket for the new lunar mission will also be ready no earlier than 2030 years.
