A problem has been revealed at Skoltech related to the use of ChatGPT in Russia: although the AI is very good at speaking Russian, it lacks data on Russian history and literature.

This was reported by the deputy head of the Competence Center of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) for Wireless Communication and Internet of Things technologies based at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), Alexander Sivolobov.

"However, there is a problem. The training used a limited volume of Russian language texts. As a result, the system lacks knowledge about the events of our history, about literature, including the school program. She also doesn't have enough expertise in the works of famous Russian authors on philosophy, politics, philology, and history", - said Alexander Sivolobov.

He noted that the 570 GB of text data that ChatGPT was trained on is "a lot, but far from all the knowledge that is available openly".
