With the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia, as well as disruption of traditional logistics chains, spare parts for cars and consumables have risen sharply in price in the country. The ruble, which weakened in March-April, does not contribute to a decrease in the cost of consumables, but the cost of motor oil, contrary to this, has gone down. This was reported by the Avtostat agency, after studying prices for lubricants in major Russian million-plus cities.
According to the study, the average cost of a 4-liter canister of Lukoil Genesis Armortech 5W-40 oil decreased by 13% compared to June 2022. Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 and Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 oils fell in price by 15% and 19%, respectively, over the same period.
"Price reduction is not a new trend, but a new situation, when domestic manufacturers managed to significantly increase production and launch the import substitution process, and the deep shortage of imported oils began to be eliminated due to active parallel imports from Asian countries," Avtostat explained the situation on the market.
