The head of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov spoke about the task from Vladimir Putin to create a Russian super-heavy rocket carrier.
"I have a presidential mandate to create this super-heavy carrier, starting next year. God willing. The situation in the country is difficult, there is not enough money for everything.", - said Borisov. He also added that the creation of the rocket would take 8-10 years.
Such a rocket for flights to the Moon was previously being developed in Russia, but technical design was stopped in early 2021. Dmitry Rogozin, who was heading Roscosmos at the time, said that the project of the super-heavy rocket "Yenisei" and its heavier version "Don" was revised due to the transition to "more breakthrough technologies": methane was planned to be used as fuel, not an oxygen-kerosene mixture.
