"We will investigate together": Russia launches its own UFO research program

The Russian Academy of Sciences invites witnesses to provide photos and videos of unusual objects in the sky

The Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics (KIAM), part of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), has initiated a scientific project dedicated to the study of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). According to information published on the KIAM Telegram channel:

We are launching a scientific program to study unidentified flying objects. If you have witnessed any unusual object or phenomenon in the sky. If you just noticed something interesting and incomprehensible in the sky. Send photo/video materials to our email: ufo@keldysh.ru.

Eyewitnesses are asked to provide data on the location, time, and circumstances of observing such objects in their messages. KIAM promises to look into the situation together with the participants.

Last year in the fall, NASA launched a commission to study UFOs. However, the scientists in this group prefer to use the term "unidentified aerial phenomena" instead of UFOs to avoid associations with flying saucers and give the project a scientific character. In January of this year, it became known that since June 2021, the US government has received about 250 reports of "unidentified anomalous phenomena" and is now actively studying them.
