The Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics (IPM), part of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), has initiated a research project dedicated to the study of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). According to information published on the IPM's Telegram channel:
Eyewitnesses are asked to provide in their messages information about the place, time and circumstances of such objects observation. IPM promises to delve into the situation together with participants.
Last fall, NASA began a commission to study UFOs. However, the scientists involved in this group prefer to use the term “unidentified aerial phenomena” instead of UFOs to avoid associations with flying saucers and to impart a scientific character to the project. In January of this year, it became known that since June 2021, the US government has received about 250 messages about “unidentified anomalous phenomena” and is now actively studying them.
