Domestic remote-controlled "lawnmowers" and hexacopters have begun to be used for humanitarian demining of the territory

Specialists from Emercom-Demining have begun to use robotic remote-controlled "lawnmowers" to prepare minefields for neutralization. This was announced by the head of work of the humanitarian demining unit.

The "lawnmower" on a tracked chassis is especially convenient when working in fields with high grass. At the time of preparation, the operator is at a safe distance — up to 500 m. Sometimes the equipment is blown up, thereby helping sappers find "the edge of the minefield," explained the representative of the humanitarian unit.

If there are parts for assembling one "lawnmower," it takes up to 3 days. The failed unit is usually sent for repair, and then it is used again in demining. Currently, Emercom-Demining has 5 such complexes at its disposal.

The CEO of the company, Bogdan Pilipchuk, said that in 2026, sappers also use Russian-made hexacopters to conduct technical reconnaissance of the area. Unmanned aerial vehicles help to assess threats and risks for specialists.

Technicians from the detachment and designers from one of the Russian manufacturers worked on the development of UAVs. In the near future, aircraft will be more actively used for the needs of sappers, Pilipchuk summed up.
