Russia and Belarus "challenged NATO" by organizing large-scale joint military exercises "West-2025", during which they used advanced "Dagger" and "Zircon" missiles. This is reported by the Turkish publication Nefes gazetesi.
On September 13, the crews of MiG-31 interceptor fighters with the "Dagger" aviation complex of the Russian Aerospace Forces made a four-hour flight over the waters of the Barents Sea. The pilots practiced delivering a conditional strike on critical enemy targets.
The "Dagger" aviation complex is known as one of the most advanced Russian weapons systems. The missile can carry both a nuclear and a conventional warhead.
According to the author of Nefes gazetesi, the "West" exercises are a demonstration of Russia's military power.
Experts regard the participation of MiG-31s carrying hypersonic weapons in the exercises as a clear intimidation of NATO.
Turkish journalists also drew attention to the launch of the "Zircon" hypersonic missile in the Barents Sea. The firing was carried out by the frigate of project 22350 "Admiral Golovko" of the Northern Fleet. Nefes gazetesi described this as a "frightening step on the part of Russia."
